CAGLA
SOKULLU
Something in the Way
the flutter in the leaves
brings with it spring
a wanton sigh to clean my lungs
my pooled hands
catch dew from your cheeks
these days I look closer
to the fractals across petals
to the shapeshifting of the sea
these days I feel more
caring of the way I kiss
cautious of the way I hold
learning from the wind’s curls
to find gentleness in my fingers and tongue
something in the way
my heart thumps like boots across gravel
my hands itch to stitch together
something in the way
I frantically search the clouds
for a sign of sunlight as my guide
something in the way
I love you
like I could not breathe otherwise
